The secrets of a business broker

Terry H. Monroe

Terry Monroe, President and Broker of American Business Brokers has over 29 years of experience in starting and operating businesses. Monroe's entrepreneurial pursuits have allowed him to be involved in the ownership and operations of more than 32 different businesses. These include retail, service, real estate, restaurants, convenience stores, motels, manufacturing, radio, television, and commercial real estate development.

Monroe has also had the opportunity to become involved in the franchise industry, both by owning his own franchise company as a franchiser and as a franchisee owner of 10 national franchises.

Monroe's diverse background as an owner and operator of a business helps him to relate to the same challenges his clients face when they are in the process of selling their business. Through his experience Monroe can quickly identify the challenges that arise when selling a business and work toward achieving the solutions. Monroe is experienced in negotiating transactions from the $50,000 business to businesses in excess of $50,000,000. Having owned and managed businesses with as few as 2 employees to the owner of a national retail company with 155 stores in 27 states and 2 countries and 750 employees, Monroe can relate to the seller and knows what it takes to sell their business.

Monroe is proud to have been affiliated with several different fund raisers including “Kilimanjaro for Kids” which took him to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro raising money for The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida and “Climbing for a Cause” which took Monroe to Mt. Aconcagua to help raise money for Hope for Haiti and Naples Community Hospital and Duke Cancer Research.

As Past President of the Southwest Chapter of the Florida Business Brokers Association and an avid student of Zig Ziglar, Roger Dawson, Brian Tracy and Jim Rohn, Monroe applies that same positive attitude and passion to succeed when facilitating the sale of a business.

"Selling your business may be the biggest decision you'll ever make, so it's important to have the experience and know-how behind you. I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction in helping a seller and buyer complete a win-win transaction and fulfill their goals."
